Hubballi: Many students from the North Karnataka region have completed their BSC in breastfeeding, post-basically in BSC nursing and GNM Diploma in breastfeeding facing difficulties in registering their names with the State Care Council of Karnataka (KSNC), Bengaluru.
Because there is no other regional center, students must travel to Bengaluru, in the midst of increasing Covid cases, for registration, which is mandatory for all breastfeeding students who are looking for government work.
Many breastfeeding students from Hubballi, Gadag, Koppal and other parts of North Karnataka told TII that the government had invited applications to post public health workers for which registration was mandatory.
“We have finished the course but we need to travel to Bengaluru and spend thousands of rupees (to register).
Most of us come from a bad background and we cannot pay travel fees, anyway and other costs in Bengaluru.
During this pandemic period , traveling to other cities is just risking our lives.
In addition, there is a technical problem to get an appointment online, “said a candidate who did not want to be named.
“I went to Bengaluru with an 8-month-old child and I had to stay in a cottage near the council.
It was really a difficult time for me to register, the government must start a regional center,” said other nursing students from Hubballi.
Mahaboobsab, a technician, who accompanied his sister to Bengalaru from Hubballi, said that there was a big rush in the council office and staff were not polite to the students.
“We spent two days in Bengaluru for registration.
The government must start regional centers to avoid this rush and help North Carnataka students for registration and renewal,” he said.
Sanjay M Peerapur, Principal of the KLE Institute of Nursing Sciences in Hubballi, said there was a regional registration center in Hubballi, Kalaburagi, Mangaluru and other parts of the state for registration.
These centers are closed back three years.
More than 40,000 breastfeeding students pass every year in the state and most of them come from the North Karnataka region.
Most students are women and all have to go to Bengaluru for registration and updates.
“Many students share their problems with us about registration.
We have demanded that the government begin the regional KSNC center in North Carnataka,” said PeerPur.
Somashekarayya Kalmath, a member of the Senate University of Health Sciences Rajiv Gandhi in Bengaluru, said: “We found a problem faced by breastfeeding students in registering their names with KSNC.
