Vadodara: The body of the Gram Rakshak Dal personnel posted at the Chanod police station was found floating in the Orsang River on Wednesday.
Kalpesh Bariya, 23, who worked at the Chanod police station for the past five months, has been lost on September 5.
The police suspected that he had committed suicide or drowning on the river while talking on the phone.
“When he left his house, he spoke on a cellphone and the river right behind his house,” said a police officer.
When Bariya did not go home, his family did not succeed in looking for him in neighboring villages.
On Wednesday, residents of Bhalodra Village saw the body floating on the river and notify the police.
Kin Bariya identifies the body.
Post-mortem examination was carried out at a referral hospital in Dabhoi.
“There are no signs of injury to the body and family saying that the deceased has no hostility with anyone,” the official added.
Cases of accidental death have been registered.
Police said Bariya left a one year old son and a pregnant wife.
