Great Fire at Food & Beverage Factory kills 52 in Bangladesh

Dhaka: A great fire overnight which swallowed a food factory and multi-storey drinks on the outskirts of the capital Bangladesh killed at least 52 people and the score of other people reported trapped in because the door was locked, the authorities said on Friday, the latest industrial shot accident in this country.
Officials and fire witnesses said the Blaze broke on Thursday night and tore the factory in the Rupganj area in Narayanganj.
Firefighters said many of them were trapped jumping from the building to save themselves from fire.
The number of victims can increase because many workers are countless.
“Fifty-two people have been killed so far but we are afraid of more bodies inside.
Search operations are taking place,” said a district administrative official to reporters at the scene, almost 25 kilometers east of Dhaka.
Fire officials said 49 body recovered from building sites while others gave up on their wounds on the way to or in hospitals, where many were treated for critical injuries.
Residents in the neighborhood said most factory workers were teenagers.
Victims and relatives accused the front gate, which is the only way to enter and leave the factory place, has been locked since the fire broke.
The factory building does not have the right fire safety measures, according to workers.
Details about what causes a fire, how many people are in the factory and how many are still missing are not available.
Allegedly the fire came from the ground floor of the building and spread quickly due to chemicals and plastic bottles.
Television recordings show fire still burning on the structure of six floors, emitting thick smoke while fire officials said their search campaign continued with efforts to extinguish the fire.
Severe heat from fire has caused cracks in the building section.
Windows, including aluminum structure, messy, with black smoke feathers billowing out of the factory.
“The fire came from the fourth floor where we almost finished the search operation but we had not looked for a corpse on the fifth floor and sixth,” said a fire official to a private TV channel.
Hundreds of relatives of factory workers waiting outside the factory because the flames continued to be angry.
Official initially reported only three deaths.
The toll road rose sharply after the fire department began to recover dozens of workers who were trapped on the top floor of the plant.
“The point of running towards the roof of the building is locked when the fire breaks …
many victims can save their lives if they can immediately take refuge there,” said a fire officer.
Deputy Director of the Narayanganj District Fire Service Abdullah Al Arefin said it would take time to fully control the fire.
“Until the fire is watered, it is impossible to say exactly how much damage happens and the cause of the fire,” he added.
The company exported its products to a number of countries, including India, US, Australia, Bhutan and Nepal.
President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had expressed shock and deep sadness over losing life in fire.
The Seven Member Probe Committee has been formed by the district government to see the incident.
Bangladesh has a tragic history of industrial disasters, including fire incidents at the factory.
In February 2019, at least 70 people were killed when Inferno tore Dhaka Flat where chemicals were illegally stored.
Another fire in the old Dhaka in a house also saved chemicals killing at least 123 people in 2010.
Bangladesh enacted harder safety rules after more than 1,100 people died when a garment factory complex fainted near Dhaka in 2013, known as a disaster Worst factory in the world.
