GREATER NOIDA: The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has appointed REPL (Rudrabhishek Enterprises Ltd) as the consultant to prepare their Master Plan 2041.
The agreement was signed between Amandeep Duli additional chief executive officer (ACEO) GNIDA and Harish Sharma executive director REPL earlier this week.
The master plan 2041 will be devised based on the geographical information system (GIS) on the lines of Singapore, and will focus on infrastructure, housing, industry, real estate, retail, IT, low income housing, disaster management and commercial development along with transport connectivity and green areas.
According to officials, the master plan will cover 38,000 hectares in phase 1 and 2 of Greater Noida and will be made keeping in mind estimates of population projections of 2041.
While REPL will devise the plan in eight stages, the expected time frame for it to be ready with the final master plan is one year.
“The consultant will focus on sustainable growth with focus on infrastructure development conducive to population projections for 2041,” said an official from GNIDA.
While the population of Greater Noida is projected to grow from 10 lakh to 25 lakh in 2040, the statutory document that will guide the development of the city for the next 20 years will accordingly focus on developing the infrastructure to meet the city’s requirements.
Even as the city is divided into 105 sectors, which include 40 residential, 22 industrial along with provisions for setting up information technology, group housing, institutional, warehousing etc, the master plan 2041 will also assess GNIDA’s master plan 2021 to devise plans on urban designs and zones.
REPL officials said that development of the master plan will be undertaken in eight stages which will include reviewing of the existing planning framework, assessing the implementation of the existing master plan and formulating the future strategy.
“The notified area for the master plan is approximately 38,000 hectares.
The plan will include details of transport, real estate and industrial development, disaster management and low-income housing.
It will also include capital investment plans, requirements of integrated ITC solutions, social and physical infrastructure, and road network plan.
Master Plan 2041 will have elements of mixed-use development and transit-oriented development for sustainable growth.
Greater Noida is expected to attract higher investments and generate huge employment on successful implementation of the master plan,” said Dr Harish Sharma executive director REPL.
The plan will have all the smart features of a smart city.
“The rapid pace of development has made Greater Noida the epicentre of business and trade which has resulted in the influx of population over the years.
This will be a major consideration in devising the Master Plan 2041 which will ensure a smart and sustainable city with an underlying vision where people can live, work and play,” said Pradeep Misra, CMD REPL.
REPL is already working on preparing the master plans for Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA) and several AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) cities across the country especially in Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Uttarakhand.
