Athens: Search and rescue operations are ongoing on Friday near Lesbos Island Greece along the maritime border with Turkey after Dinghy inflatable carrying migrants apparently sank, the authorities said.
Ten people have been saved and the other three are believed to be lost, said the Greek coast guard.
Two coast guard patrol patrols, vessels from Frontex European border agency, one helicopter, and two planes, as well as ships that have sailed nearby, involved in search operations, said beach guards.
Turkish coast guards have also been told about the incident.
According to Greek Guard Coast, Dinghy seemed to have been immersed in Turkey territorial waters, with initially someone who survived swimming into the Greek territorial waters and was picked up by the Greek authorities.
Nine more people were then saved, they said.
Survivor told the authorities, there were a total of 13 people in Dinghy when they drowned.
Their nationality is not immediately available.
Greece has become one of the most popular entry points to the European Union for people running away from conflict and poverty in the Middle East, Africa and Asia for years.
Great majority seeks to reach the islands of Greece near the Turkish coast, often in a very dense Dinghi inflatable and the boat that cannot be maintained.
