Nagpur: Green Vigil Foundation Doing ‘Dewali Environmentally Friendly: Say Not to Campaign Crackers in front of the Children’s Traffic Park, attract Nagpurian to celebrate Diwali with environmentally friendly by releasing the use of firecrackers and Diyas to praise the victory of goodness over evil.
With the help of placards and attractive and informative banners, Vigil Green members appeal to citizens to promise to green Diwali.
They told them about smoke and toxic substances released by firecrackers burst, their adverse effects on air quality, increased noise pollution and solid waste formation.
NGOs also appealed to residents to set aside thoughts about animals and birds before exploding firecrackers.
Mehul Kosurkar from the Green Vigil Foundation said, “Along with particles, the fire cracker also emits poisonous chemicals such as potassium nitrate, sulfur, aluminum, zinc, cadmium, copper, tin etc.
which are very dangerous for health and cause respiratory problems, skin allergies, irritation eyes and throat, asthma, blood pressure fluctuations etc.
“Dr.
Sheetal Chaudhary and Shriya Jogey said,” Green Vigil is interested in creating awareness about air pollution and noise due to crackers.
Bursters from crackers do not only affect humans but are very dangerous for animal life including birds , Cats and dogs.
Therefore, limiting the use of firecrackers during Diwali is very important.
“Green Vigil also conducted a door-to-door campaign to celebrate Diwali environmentally friendly.
Member of the Vigil Green Kaustav Chatterjee team, Mehul Kosurkar, Sheetal Choudhary, Bishnudeo Yadav, Shria Jogey, Gauri Shrikhandkar, Priya Yadav, Sujay Kalbande, Trupti Bangadkar, Deepak Prasad, Dhanashree agreed to the success of the campaign.
