Green Warriors warned about the sink of land in the lignite mine

Rajkot: After witnessing a resurrection of a portion of the land per year back, residents of Badi-Hidad Village in Bhavnagar Regency are now worried about the sinking of land at the Lignit Mine Disposal site located in the area.
GAM member Khedut Sangharsh Samiti and Prayvaraana Surakha Samiti, after visiting the site between 1 and October 3, it has alleged that the land at the dumping site has sunk almost 25 to 30 feet.

We estimate that the land expanse of around 150 m to sink around 25 to 30 feet,” said Rohit Prajapati from Surakha Samiti who shot the letter to the relevant authorities.
“At the same time, the Maleshree River which flows 350 meters from the village has been contaminated because of illegal mining waste which flows into it and is quickly considered not feasible for agriculture and livestock needs.
Also, a side by side of the pastoral soil has suffered damage due to pollution,” added Prajapati.
Environmental lovers also accused the previous letters about the ongoing environmental disaster were not issued by the authority concerned.
They demanded that the sinking soil phenomenon require an expert assessment and immediate investigation.
