London: Greta Thunberg’s teen climate activist attended a small protest in London on Friday against the role of the global bank in the fossil fuels industry, ahead of traveling to the COP26 summit to Scotland.
The 18-year-old environmental icon joins several dozen young protesters who demand that banks stop financing pollution projects, such as fossil fuel extraction, outside the Bank Chartered Standard Bank headquarters.
After being faced by a horde of cameras waiting, he briefly raved with other young activists on the site in the London financial district before leaving without giving speeches.

“Today we are outside @Sanchart asking them to stop funding our destruction,” Thunberg Tweets immediately after that.
“The bank still pours the amount of fantasy into fossil fuels, disrupts the planet and places many lives in humanity.” The previous demonstrators had protested on several other sites in the City of London Finance Hub and scheduled to hold Fridays then outside the Bank of England.

England and companies in the UK have funded the climate chaos and the destruction of our islands for decades,” Joseph Sikuli, an activist from Tonga in the South Pacific, told AFP.
Organizers said similar protests were held in 26 countries around the world ahead of COP26.
The 12-day meeting of world leaders and environmental policy delegates began on Sunday at Glasgow Scottish City.
Thunberg, which on Friday for the upcoming movement has inspired massive street protests around the world since 2018, has confirmed he plans to join March 5 November for “climate justice” there.
Earlier this month, he voiced the concern of the Summit would not reach the landmark agreement needed to combat the climate change on a date.
“As it is now, this police will not lead to major changes, we must continue to push,” he told AFP on the sidelines of the climate concert held in Stockholm.
