Ahmedabad: Secondary Gujarat and Secondary Education Council (GSHSEB) 10th grade and class 12 students are likely to have a truncated syllabus this year too.
The State Education Department plans to cut the 30% syllabus for around 9-lakh grade 10 and around 7-lakh 12th grade students due to a Covid-19 pandemic, said sources close to development.
The decision was on the line of the CBSE center education center (CBSE) which announced a reduction in syllabus by 30% last month, according to the source.
A committee has been formed by Gshseb to look into this matter and hand over his findings to the State Education Department.
“The Committee will recommend 30% cut syllabus after considering various aspects, especially continuity factors in further study.
The government will make the last call to which the syllabus must be cut,” said an official.
The syllabus will only be revised for the 2021-22 academic year.
In the 10th grade and 12th grade GSHSEB conducted council checks, questions will not be asked of chapters that have been removed from the syllabus.
Similarly, the committee will ensure that the important chapter for competitive exams is not excluded, said source.
In addition to deciding to continue the short syllabus for the second year in a row, Gshseb will also release the syllabus of the terms – wise for grade 10 and 12th grade to all schools.
The State Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama did not respond to his cellphone.
In September 2020, the State Education Department has announced to reduce the syllabus of 30% for grade 9 to grade 12 amid Covid-19 situation for the 2020-21 academic year when students are learning through online mode.
