Letter: Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) will run 600 buses from letters to various parts of Gujarat and neighboring countries on Tuesday to serve the Dewali Rush.
Nearly 1,000 buses have traveled across the country until Monday.
GSRTC has launched the ‘St program in front of your door for those traveling to their original places during the Diwali Festival a few years ago.
The bus will transport passengers to various districts of Saurashtra, Central Gujarat, North Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
“There was a big demand for the bus during Diwali.
People previously relied on private transportation a few years ago,” said Sanjay Joshi, Divisional Controller, GSRTC.
“In the past four years we gradually develop a comprehensive model where passengers can get a bus from their doorstep in the city and it will drop them in their village,” said Joshi Toi.
The ‘ST on your door’ program provides a difficult competition for private bus operators with affordable rates and better connectivity, he added.
GSRTC plans to run more than 1,500 bus celebration buses to different routes.
