Ahmedabad: After undergoing an online exam in the second half of 2020 and early 2021, Gujarat Technology University (GTU) has conducted a direct exam in June 2021.
With the Covid situation it seems indeed in the state, GTU has announced an in-of-person exam for January 2022 too .
However, the explosion was recently in a case with concerns about the omicron variant of the virus, the university was forced to call a direct exam.
GTU, the largest technical university in the state, has around 600 colleges affiliated with it, with 5.5 lakh students.
It emerged as a pioneer of the online exam in 2020, became the first university in the state to carry out such an examination because of the Covid situation.
Deputy Chancellor GTU Navin Sheth said, “We have postponed the exam because we have prepared a direct exam and cannot easily switch to the online exam at that time.” “To conduct an online exam, we must get students to register the device they want to follow the exam.
We use a sophisticated pengumu tool for our online exam, and even catch students involved in unfair exam practice in our online test,” Sheth added.
In the summer of 2020 semester exams, GTU captured around 20 students for the exam malpractice using their online announcement tools.
They were convicted of being banned from the exam for one year.
“For the next few days, after assessing the Covid situation, we will make a decision whether to take an online or direct examination.
If the Covid situation remains bad, we will discuss the online exam with our Dean,” Sheth said.
On Monday, members of the National Union National Students have approached the GTU authority with a memorandum who demanded that the exam in-people be called because of the Covid situation.
They say that students as cases increase, students must be able to go home and do not have to stay in the hostel because of the exam.
