LONDON: Pep Guardiola has praised the way the Manchester City players have dealt with difficulties and exit the field after they strengthen their grip on the Premier League title race.
City, who beat Chelsea 1-0 on Saturday, was 11 points from Liverpool who were in second place after 12 league wins straight and approached the fourth English title in five years.
Guardiola quoted a full-back example of Joao Canceo, who suffered a face injury in an attack at his home last month.
Banceo has started all three City matches since then, helping them past difficult times where they were hit by the Coronavirus outbreak.
“This season there is a personal problem for the players,” Guardiola said.
“They are humans, they have family, sometimes there are problems.” For example Joao – he has an extraordinary episode a few weeks ago with family at home.
How should you react in that situation? “The way he reacts extraordinary.
He said he wanted to play against Arsenal, in the trophy (against Swindon) and play Saturday.” Guardiola said he was more satisfied with the success of sustainable and high standards of his side than the trophy they won.
“These people, every match, give everything to this club and this is very difficult to find in modern football,” he said.
