Coimbatore: Sulur Police arrested two native residents of Bihar on Thursday because they tried to open ATMs in Thynampalayam Pirivu, on the outskirts of the city.
Police identified them as M Bijendra, 19, from Garhi Balua and M Govinda, 24, from Betuna Village in Purnia District.
Duo has worked in a casting unit in Thynampalayam for the past three years.
The patrol team has found Bijendra outside the private bank at around 11pm on Wednesday.
“He escaped to see the police.
The police team arrested him and took him to the station,” Deputy Inspector of Police Sub-division Karumattatti Ananda Arockiaj said.
“He told us that he tried to steal money from the ATM with the help of Govinda.
We caught Govinda and restore the iron rod used to open an ATM machine.
Duo plans to return to their home city by train, but don’t have enough money.
So, They decided to steal money from the ATM.
They have cut off the CCTV camera in the center of the ATM, “the officer added.
The duo was returned in court detention.
