Guj: ‘50% of cancer cases diagnosed in the advanced stage ‘

Ahmedabad: Report on the National Cancer Registry Program (NCRP) for 2021 shows that in Gujarat 58% head and neck cancer, 50% of gastric cancer in men, 54% breast cancer and 60% of cervical cancer has spread out of the Primary Network (Loco-regional ) When the patient comes to medical settings for the first time for a diagnosis.
Analysis divides diagnosis into four categories – local, loco-regional, remote metastases (spread to distant networks) and unknown levels.
In most cancer cases, more than 50%, patients when diagnosed are in the Loco-regional stage, have a greater spread.
Dr.
Bhavesh Parekh, a medical oncologist with a city-based hospital, agreed with the analysis.
“Factors such as conflict to approach the doctor until the pain is felt and the lack of regular medical examinations is responsible for this phenomenon,” he said.
“After the age of 40, it is recommended to check the signs of unnatural network growth and report it.
Early detection can help better healing.
This is even more relevant now, because some patients are irregular in their follow-up,” he said.
Analysis of cancer cases found that the prevalence per 1 lakh increased from 100 for groups of 40-44 years for men and women in Gujarat to 500 for men in groups of 70-74 and 350 for women at the age of 65-69 years.
Dr.
Somesh Chandra, a city-based surgical oncologist, said a large number of patients who came to medical arrangements were presented at the continued stage of cancer.
“It’s more relevant in cancer that grows fast,” he said.
