Ahmedabad: Four children and five others gave up on severe burn injuries that they had suffered in the explosion and fire triggered by gas leaks from LPG cylinders in a room on the outskirts of Ahmedabad Gujarat, a police officer said on Saturday.
The incident had occurred on the night of July 20.
While eight victims and their family members – died in the last few days during treatment, others surrendered on Saturday.
All of them came from Madhya Pradesh, he said.
“Gas leaks from LPG cylinders have triggered explosions and fires, where 10 people, including children and women have suffered severe burns.
The incident has claimed the nine of them so far.
They underwent treatment in civilian hospitals, “Said the Pr-Jadeja Inspector from the Aslastal police station.
Three people died during treatment on Thursday, five others surrendered on Friday and one on Saturday morning, he said.
Workers and their family members slept in a small room when the gas from their cylinder began to leak.
When their neighbors knocked on their door to remind them of it, one of the workers got up and turned on the light, which triggered a splash and led to the explosion due to gas concentration, another police official said.
10 injured people included neighbors who came to remind them, and they all rushed to a civil hospital for treatment, he said.
The deceased has been identified as a rampyari ahirwar (56), Rajubhai Ahirwar (31), Sonu Ahirwar (21), Seema Ahirwar (25), Sarju Ahirwar (22), Vaishali (7), Payal (4), and Akash (2), All native residents of the District Guna in Madhya Pradesh, Inspector added.
“One injured person, who was identified as Kulsinh Bhairwa (30), was undergoing treatment and his condition was said to be critical,” said Jadeja, added that he came from Kudgaon in Karuli, he said.
Jadeja said that the deceased’s bodies were sent to their home village in Madhya Pradesh.
