Pneumococcal pneumonia is a respiratory disease.
Cough, shortness of chest, shortness of breath and sore throat is the main symptom of this disease.
If the baby is seriously ill with this disease, he may have difficulty eating and maybe even die.
Pneumococcal infections can cause serious diseases such as meningitis, septicemia, and pneumonia, and minor diseases but are more common like sinusitis.
About 1 child lakh under the age of five in 2010 and around 53 thousand in 2015 died due to pneumonia in India.
PCV will be proven to help reduce mortality in children under five years.
PCV vaccination prevents pneumococcal and death in children.
Children under two years at risk of experiencing serious pneumococcal disease but the highest risk is in children under 1 year.
PCV vaccination will not only protect the baby but also reduce the risk of pneumococcal disease in children.
Gujarat was declared polio-free in 2007 after a comprehensive campaign to provide polio pulse vaccines to children.
Now under the visionary leadership of Gujarat CM Patel, a universal program of pneumococcal conjugate vaccination will be carried out to protect newborns in the state of pneumonia and meningitis.
