Ahmedabad: Four more people accused of being involved in false collection of fake billing Rs 900 Crore were arrested by the State Goods and Services Department (SGST) on Wednesday.
The defendant included Jahid Kabariya, Natwargiri Goswami, Vikrambhai Barlaryya and Aizaz Shaikh who were involved in tax avoidance to the 10.35 Crore Rs Nada.
The four defendants were arrested based on system-based investigations using various analytic reports available through GSTN.
The four defendants were produced before the additional Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Wednesday itself.
The arrest was carried out after nine more companies were raided by SGST officials in connection with fake billing fraud worth Rs 900 Crore.
The fraud was excavated after Madhav Copper Limited-based Bhavnagar was found to have avoided RS 137 Crore taxes using fake bills RS 425 Crore.
Two more people have also been arrested by the SGST department official – Afzal Sadiq Ali Sajwani from Bhavnagar and Meena Rathod from Prantij – who were involved in producing fake bills.
Sadiq was sent back until 3 pm on Wednesday and now sent to the Sabarmati Central Prison at Ahmedabad.
SGST department officials are checking electronic documents collected from Sajwani’s residence and transaction records that are worth the crores are waiting.
Meanwhile, Nilesh Patel, Chair of Madhav Copper Limited continued to run away despite being called for the embezzlement of the tax.
