Ahmedabad: The data available with the Gujarat Biotechnology Research Center (GBRC) on the composition of the Covid variant in this country shows that Omicron almost completely replaced the Delta variant.
Omicron variants are present in almost all samples.
On the other hand, the Delta variant contributed 96% of the sequencing in the first week of December was ignored in the last week of January.
Experts have indicated that while a very contagious variant causes a high number of daily cases, far exceeding the numbers in the second wave, mortality remains very low mainly due to the concentration of variants around the upper respiratory and very less involved in the lungs.
In the case of a wise distribution of the district, of the 245 samples of the sequencing of the genome from Ahmedabad starting January 1 this year, 214 or 87% of the omicron variant (BA.1, BA.1.1 and BA.2).
In Vadodara, the percentage is 85% (55 of 65) and in the letter, it is 100% (25 of 25).
The maximum sample analyzed this year comes from Ahmedabad (245), followed by Vadodara (65), Anand (35), Gandhinagar (30) and letters (25).
“The trend at the national level is also similar to Omicron to be the dominant tension.
Previously, it was found only to people from a particular country.” But this exercise was dropped because the amount was too high to track the spread of the variant community, “said a biologist based in City.
“Because of its immune runaway mechanism, even those infected previously or fully vaccinated had been infected,” he added.
On Saturday, Covid Daily cases have dropped below 1,500 after almost a month.
Ahmedabad is the only district in Gujarat that has been Record more than 1,000 cases on Saturday.
The highest daily tally is on January 20.
