Ahmedabad: Medical teachers in the six-government medical school in the state were surprised when they received their latest salary slips for July.
Not only the government attracts their special payment allowances, but the amount paid for the previous two months is restored.
With the implementation of the benefits of the Seventh Pay Commission for a special monthly allowance for medical teachers in government universities paid under the head of ‘non-practice benefits’.
When a medical college teacher is prohibited from personal practice, benefits are given to them as compensation.
This allowance is in the range of 10,000 rs to rs 35,000 per month based on seniority and experience.
More than 100 faculty members have been affected, said the source of this problem.
Some faculty members raised this problem and made representation to the state government.
The Gujarat medical teacher association has also written to the state government in this matter.
“Special payment according to the Recommendation of the seventh Pay Commission was introduced for about two months.
Now, the government suddenly decides not to stop it but also return it with a retrospective effect.
We have increased this problem and ask the government to recover a salary in accordance with the Recommendation of the Seventh Pay Commission,” said Dr.
Rajish Patel, President of the Gujarat Medical Teacher Association (GMTA).
A state government official said the file for the approval of ‘Non-Practitioner Allowances’ has not received a stamp of approval from the government and therefore rolled back.
Earlier this year, the teacher of six medical colleges managed by the government threatened to break down if their demands were not fulfilled.
The demands of medical teachers include higher non-practitioner benefits in line with the recommendations of the seventh Pay Commission and the elimination of contract promises.
Protests were called after the government promised to meet their demands, said sources at the GMTA.
The association also demanded that medical teachers be allowed to start personal practice after 10 years of regular services.
