Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Anti-Corruption Bureau official on Tuesday has one of the biggest seizures when they found a 227 Crore Cash record from Nipun Choksi, a government official who was arrested on July 16 for allegedly demanding and accepting RS 1.21 Lakh bribes.
ACB officials quickly issued a statement and referred to as the biggest seizure in its history.
ACB’s official statement stated that it had recovered 300 grams of gold worth Rs 10 lakh from one of the accused lockers of Nipun Choksi, State Project Engineer (Class 2) with Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) office in Gandhinagar.
Gold was found from Canara Bank lockers in Gandhinagar.
Officials ACB said that during the search they found a locker at Bank Gandhinagar Sachivalaya Gandinagar Nagarik and recovered Rs 74.50 lakh from this locker.
Also two other lockers at the Gandhinagar Cooperative Bank and found 1.52 crore cash with a total cash of Rs 2.27 Crore.
Choksi was held in a trap on July 16 when receiving RS 1.21 lakh after a contractor who had completed some work for SSA in Patan approached ACB with complaints with bribes.
Probes have found that choksi is used to charge a 1 percent commission on the amount paid to the contractor for the work completed, acb liberation informs.
ACB has stated in the release which was previously a cash and gold-silver ornaments with Rs 1.27 lakh recharged from Bhaya Sutreja regional officers from the Gujarat pollution control board.

In another incident, cash of RS 37.19 lakh was confiscated from Raman Charel’s locker, director of the boiler from the Ministry of Manpower and Labor.
These are the two highest seizures before the seizure from Choksi.
Choksi was arrested following complaints by sub-contractors.
Sub-contractors have completed the school work of the Gandhi Kastuba Girl at Hostel Shankheshwar Taluka and Boys at Sami Taluka from the District of Patan under Shiksha Abhiyan.
The accusation was allegedly demanding a 1.25 percent discount for bill approval.
However, then it was decided to pay one percent working to be 1.21 lakh.
