Bhavnagar: Two children drowned in a canal, while their mother was saved after two-wheeled vehicles were swept away by a strong current when crossing the road inundated in Bhavnagar Gujarat Regency on Wednesday, police said.
The incident occurred when the woman, her 18-year-old son, and his 12-year-old daughter crossed a canal at Rajasthali Road, which was flooded with heavy rain, an official said from the Palitana Police Station.
Wheeler-two it cannot withstand water flow and washed along with motorists, he said.
While the woman was saved by the locals, the two children sank in the canal, and a team from the fire brigade fishing their bodies after an effort of almost two hours, he said.
In an accident related to other rain, a 35-year-old man was swept away and afraid of drowning while crossing the cross road in the village of Akolali in Palitana, police said.

Part of Saurashtra and the North Gujarat region is likely to receive very heavy rainfall during the period, the IMD estimate states.
