Ahmedabad: As a private office and employees waiting in the queue for hours to get their vaccine shots, the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Gujarat trader’s federation have urged the government to further extend the mandatory time limit for vaccination.
Serpentine queues from people are seen outside the vaccination center in the Deendayal Pandit Auditorium in Bodakdev, Tagore Hall in Paldi and several other centers in the Vastral and Maninagar area on the last few days.
The state of the peak country industry, on Friday, seeking extension of the time limit until August 15, according to a representation made before the Gujarat head minister.
Despite a series of drives organized by the authorities of the citizenship in Ahmedabad and other centers, several office employees, and traders have not taken their first shots, according to industry sources.
Last week itself, a vaccination camp for traders was held at the GCCI office on Sunday.
The representation was followed after a series of requests from traders and shop owners who struggled to get vaccinations.
Ahmedabad itself is home to at least 2 lakh stores and commercial companies, and their operations will be affected if the deadline is not extended.
Traders on the other hand also requested that vaccination must be taken on a war footing.
“The government must ensure adequate vaccine supply to ensure that all traders and shop employees are vaccinated.
If supply is inadequate to meet the demand, how someone expects a voluntary trader vaccinated,” said President GTF Jayendra Tanna.
