SURAT: A 18-feet-long carcass of a whale had been washed ashore at Malvan near Nargol shore in Valsad on Wednesday. Forest officials couldn’t confirm the species of the whale as it’s decomposed. Locals seen the carcass early on Wednesday and they alarmed woods officials. A group of forest officials visited the place and gathered samples for additional investigation to discover whether the whale had been murdered or died naturally. “Its postmortem isn’t feasible because the carcass is decomposed. We’ll attempt to discover if it’s natural departure or whether it had been murdered,” deputy conservator of forest Yadu Bhardwaj told TOI. The carcass is about eight-feet-wide. “Due to the enormous dimensions, we’re yet to finalise on its disposal. According to principles its burial and cremation equally are equally permissible but looking in its size its own burial is going to be a better choice. It isn’t yet finalised,” said Bhardwaj. People from neighboring villages gathered in the place to observe the enormous carcass. At the recent years that the carcass of a tiger was found on the shore of Malvan. In years past carcasses of whales and dolphins have been located on shores of Valsad, Navsari and Surat. In 2013 the carcass of a tiger was located in river Tapi.
