Ahmedabad: With Gujarat reached coverage of 90% of the Covid vaccination dose on Sunday, the State Health Department official said that of the total population that qualified, around 6 lakh people had not taken the second dose and the second dose was waiting 48 lakh.
As on Sundays, the state has covered a 98.8% population with the first dose, one of the highest figures among Indian countries.
“The country has so far given a 5.17 first dose crore, 4.75 Crore second dose, and 17.8 doses of lakh prevention, totaling 10.1 crore,” said a senior official.
“While the maximum coverage has been achieved, efforts to reach the last person and ensure that all people who meet the requirements are vaccinated.” The official said that special drives were being held at the district and city levels.
Officials said that the overall number of the latest waves showed high vaccination effects with a very low mortality rate compared to the second wave.
“Citizens have realized the benefits of Jab and we see better compliance when it comes to the second dose and precautions,” the official said.
“Even among teenagers, of the 30 populations targeted by Lakh, 29 lakh has been covered with the first lakh and 13 with both doses.”
