New Delhi: In unexpected political developments, Minister Gujarat Vijay Rupani on Saturday handed over his resignation to Governor Acharya Devvrat in Raj Bhavan.
After sending his resignation, Rupani told reporters that he was grateful to the leadership of BJP for giving him the opportunity to serve as the main minister.
“During my tenure, I had the opportunity to work for the development of the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” said Kantani.
He cupped questions about the reasons behind the sudden movement, said he served as cm for five years which was a long time.
Rupani added that the change of guard was a natural phenomenon at BJP.
He said he would continue to work under the leadership of the BJP National President.
“People have rebelled their beliefs on BJP for the past five years,” he said.
Kupani, who assumed the office after replacing Anandiben Patel in 2016, completed five years of his term last month.
It is not clear whether the CM representative Nitin Patel will now take over posting or if the party will choose another leader.
The election of assembly in the state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is due next year.
Kupani is the third BJP CM to retreat in recent weeks.
Previously, BS Yediyurappa and Tirath Singh did not resign as Head of Minister of Karnataka and Uttarakhand respectively.
