Ahmedabad: Big cities in Gujarat who looked gloomy, ride bumper-to-bumper in the nearest future.
The reason, every Gujarat household has more than two vehicles – an average of 2.25 vehicles per household – which is the third highest after Goa 4.41 vehicles per household and Delhi 3.62 vehicles per household.
The National Yearbook Transportation National Road 2019-2020 from the Ministry of Road Transportation and Highway (Morth) revealed that as on March 31, 2021, the state had 2.75 crore registered vehicles.
One of the main reasons, said experts, is a poor public transportation system in cities.
The frequency of buses is less in a large number of villages and multi-tasking cultures in Gujarat whose instructions for people to buy their own vehicles are not dependent on public transportation.
Another interesting facts that emerged from this report were that there were around 436 vehicles per 1,000 Gujarat.
Annual book revealed that in terms of registration of state vehicles rank fourth with a vehicle population behind Maharashtra (3.95 Crore) Uttar Pradesh (3.83 Crore) and Tamilnadu (3.36 crore).
Gujarat along with Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu account for nearly 49% of the total vehicles registered in India.
Maharashtra has a 12% highest share followed by up (11.1%), Tamil Nadu (10.2%), Gujarat (8.5%) and Karnataka (7.2%).
‘The level is always high at State’Pranav Shah, Chair of the Federation of the Automobile Dealers’ Association (Fada) Gujarat, said that Gujarat has become a great market for vehicles since the 1980s.
In two decades: 80s and 90s, the country is the largest vehicle market in the country.
In addition, in the state there is a tendency of universities and school students using twowheelers.
It is not common in other countries.
Officials in the State Department of Transportation said Gujarat always had a high level of vehicle purchases.
They say the latest trends show that most families have one vehicle for every adult.
Goa has a small population but more vehicles because it is the main tourist destination.
A transportation official said that the limitation of the big city like Ahmedabad, Vadodara or Rajkot there was no close to every urban public transport.
