Rajkot: Five people were killed in Gujarat as heavy rain which was flat on Saurashtra on Wednesday disrupted normal life.
Five people died in the incident related to rain in Rajkot Regency, Junagadh and Bhavnagar, someone was injured and one lost person.
There were more than 60 villages in low-lying areas in Rajkot Regency, Amreli and Bhavnagar who were warned for flooding.
Heavy rainfall was reported in the Rajkot District, Amreli, Junagadh and Gir Somnath after 4pm on Wednesday.
According to the police, in the village of Pratappur Jas and Taluka from the Rajkot District, two agricultural workers, Indigenous Madeshya Pradesh died after being shocked.
The deceased was identified as Sunil Davra (15) and Arun Kherhaiya (12).
A 50-year-old woman Durga Bhil swept Natural Drain in Maliya Hatina Taluka from Junagadh.
The two siblings sinked in the canal but the mother was saved when their two-wheel was swept away by a strong current near Palitana from the Bhavnagar district.
According to the police, the incident occurred when they crossed the canal in Rajasthali Road which was flooded with heavy rains.
