Gujarat: Illegal structure causes flooding, making frightening reptiles

Vadodara: Barodian will be happy to destroy it in the harsh summer than fighting with flood misery which falls on them every year.
Thousands of citizens living on the banks of the Vishwamitri river literally live on the edge for the entire rainy season even because of some heavy shower throws their lives from equipment for days.
Thanks to the lack of city planning and the negligence of Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC), a number of housing colonies that have appeared along the banks of the river are flooded after heavy rain.
So much, that many residents here now prefer to migrate to other safer locations if it starts to rain too heavy.
“The first drop of the monsoon and I started storing important items.
Our colony lies right next to the Wiswamitri river and when it rains, water flows directly to our area.
We are often stranded in our homes for days and fire-department officials must carry a ship for Save us, “said Dimple Pancholi, a resident of Bungalow Siddharth in the same area.
More than the waters, Siddharth bungalows are afraid of what is brought by him – snakes and crocodiles – who often swim to their colonies.
“I have seen crocodiles swim right next to my house during the flood,” Pancholi, a professional photographer, said.
A wall was built around the siddharth bungalow to prevent river water from flowing into the colony but also swept away in the flood of 2019.
26km-stretch of rivers flowing through the city is home to at least 270 crocodiles and densely populated with reptiles between fatehgunj and mejigunjung.
However, environmental lovers, who have worked to save the river, however, claim that most of the construction near the banks of the river are illegal.
“Having a concrete structure near the river damages the ecosystem and also causes flooding in other areas when they limit the river’s natural flow.
According to the rules, one must keep a distance of nine meters from the river flood plan while building anything.
But many concrete buildings have come very close to River.
This is a flood that is invited, “said Rohit Prajapati, an environmental activist who has approached the National Green Tribunal (NGT) to save the river.
Talking about the solution, said Prajapati, “One of the first things is to remove some concrete construction that appears on the river bank.
NGT also said in order to remove unauthorized structures near the river bank.
Then the authorities must mapping rivers and ensuring that no There is fresh construction that appears near the river in the future.
