Letter: A man who suffered a mental health problem was arrested on Sunday for killing his brother-in-law at Chikhli Taluka in the Navsari district.
The police said that the Ramila Patel (45) woman worked on her farm in Kukeri Village on Saturday night when accused of Ashok Patel attacked him with sickle.
After being beaten by Ashok, Ramila managed to collect himself and tried to escape but Ashok ran behind him and hit him again who proved fatal.
When he heard a commotion, the people who worked on neighboring farms rushed to help Ramila but he gave up on the injury at that time.
Ramila Deepak’s husband was told about the incident and then the police were also called.
The woman’s body was sent to the public health center in Chikhli for Post-Mortem and Ashok detained after a violation was registered at the Chikhli police station.
“We arrested him after the Covid-19 test but he had not revealed the reason behind killing his brother-in-law,” said a police officer.
He added that Ashok suffered mental health problems and depended on his brother for all.
