Rajkot: giving a lift to an unknown woman almost the cost of a man Rs 3 Lakh let alone a terrible experience being kidnapped and locked up in an isolated place in Junagadh.
However, with timely action by Junagadh police, the victim was identified as Bhavesh Borad, from Dholva Village Chart Taluka in Junagadh, saved without injured.
Police on Wednesday arrested three people – Arvind aka Anil Gajera (39), a resident of Lakhapadar Village in Amreli; Bharat Pardhi (29) from Nani Paraabdi Dhoraji and Jinnat village alias Aunt Morvadiya (38) from Rajkot – for kidnapping, illegal confinement and extortion efforts.
According to the police, when Borad went to Juangadh from obtaining his bicycle on Tuesday, Jinnat was looking for a ride from him near the Besan Chowkdi, who he agreed to.
However, when Borad reached nearby Junagadh, two other defendants, Arvind and Bharat intercepted him and identified themselves as police.
They questioned the woman, where the board told them that it did not know him and just offered him a ride.
The defendant rebuked Borad and asked him to come with them to the police station.
But instead of the police station, they took him to an isolated place near Bhavnath Taleti where they limited him.
The first defendant demanded Rs 3 Lakh from Borad because of his release, but then resolved for Rs 1.20 lakh.
The Board called his brother Mukesh in the letter and asked him to immediately send Rs 1.20 lakh through Angadiya.
Mukesh was suspicious and told the leader of Dholva Village Natubhai Pokiya who approached the police.
Junagadh branch of the police branch Inspector Harendra Bhatt together with his team continued to oversee the Angadia company office and arrested Arvind who came to raise money sent by Mukesh from the letter.
Arvind led the police to Borad.
The investigation revealed that while Bharat was previously booked in an effort to kill cases, two other accused – Jinnat and Arvind were accused of honey trap in Rajkot.
