Ahmedabad: Half of August, one of the most months of giving rainfall for the country, has ended, the state will still get charging season – in accordance with the data of the Indian Meteorology Department (IMD).
The overall country is less at 48% if someone compares numbers with normal rainfall until August 15.
In absolute terms, the state has so far only received 31% of the average annual rainfall of 831mm.
Saurashtra and Kutch were hit hard with only 50% of the average rainfall until August 15.
This month generally gives two to three good spells that last for three to four days, but this year has not produced good rainfall.
Experts say that they don’t expect to heavy rainfall for the next few days.
Manorama Mohanty, Head of Imd Gujarat, told TOI that in the next five days, estimates referred to good rainfall for several southern countries.
“In other parts, rainfall can be a little.
The lack of a good system is the cause of rain rows,” he said.
IMD officials said that Gujarat generally had good rainfall until September 15.
Rainfall after that often a little.
However, the country has even recorded rainfall until mid-October in several years, they added.
But effectively 15-20 days will decide how this year will be for the country – both in terms of water availability for drinking and irrigation.
In extreme cases, agriculture may not get adequate water, pointed experts.
