Ahmedabad: Heavy rains in several parts of Gujarat in the last two days leading to the close of 18 roads, including two state highways, for traffic due to water logging and damage, officials from the State Emergency Operations Center (SeoC) told Friday.
The Indian Meteorology Department (IMD), in his estimate was issued during the day, it had predicted lightweight rainfall to being in most of the Gujarat for the next four days, and has warned that some areas in North Gujarat, Saurashtra and South Gujarat can accept heavy which is very heavy during this period.
The release of Seoc said 18 roads, consisting of two state highways passing through Amreli and Portherar Regency and 16 Panchayat roads in rural areas, were closed on Friday due to water logging or damage related to rain.
This release informed that several regions, mostly in the northern region of the state, received heavy rainfall to moderate in the 24-hour period which ended at 6am, on Friday, with Talod Taluka in Sabarkantha Regency received the highest rainfall at 92 millimeters .
Talod was followed by Meghraj in Arvalli (90 mm), Dehgam in Gandhinagar (78 mm), Unja in Mehsana (78 mm) and Siddhpur in the District of Patan (62 mm), he said.
Between 6am and 14:00 on Friday, some areas in North Gujarat got rain, especially Sabarkantha and Banaskatha, with Vijaynagar Taluka in Sabarkantha received 80 mm, followed by Vadgam (79 mm), Danta (77 mm), and Desesa (76 mm), all in Banaskatha, umer on the letter (71 mm) and Halvad in the Morbi district (70 mm).
