Ahmedabad: Southwest Monsun withdrew from the remaining parts of Gujarat on Tuesday, marking the end of the rainy season for the country.
Compared to the date of normal withdrawal September 30, the overall withdrawal was extended by almost two weeks this year, said the Indian Meteorology Department official (IMD).
“The line of withdrawal of southwest Monsoon now passes Aurangabad and Silvassa,” said Bulletin IMD.
Manorama Mohanty, head of the IMD for the Gujarat region, said this year the state received 703.4mm rainfall against a long-term average of 692.4mm.
“Thus, the state has received 102% of its seasonal rainfall.
Wise-wise, there are differences – Saurashtra and Kutch gets an excess of 24% rain, while the remaining Gujarat is 12% less,” he said.
The wise analysis of the district revealed that 20 of the 33 state districts received normal or higher rainfall, while 13 districts, especially in North and Central Gujarat, remained a little shortage.
However, the overall deficit decreased very because of the excess rain in September, said IMD officials.
