Rajkot: At least six workers were trapped inside the cement factory chimney in Rananavav of Porbandar on Thursday after the scaffolding they stood collapsed.
Operation rescue by the Indian coast guard team and local fire brigades at the end of Thursday night.
According to the source, the incident occurred when the workers worked in the chimney with a height of 45 feet of work painting inside.
“Scaffolding made of iron pipes was established in a chimney for this purpose.
However, the scaffold collapsed for several unknown reasons and six workers fell from a height of at least 40 feet,” Porbandar Am Sharma District Collector said.
“The Fire Brigade and the Indian coast guard team are involved in rescue work.
A helicopter has been involved by the Coast Guard.
Two NDRF teams (National Disaster Response Style) are also pushed to services,” he added.
“Six workers are now trapped in the chimney under the scaffold metal debris,” Sharma said.
Drones installed on the camera were sent into the chimney to find workers and set contact with them, he added.
