Letter: The couple who have offered prayers in a temple and spent a few moments together on the island having fear of their lives after suddenly rising on the surface of Auranga in Valsad on Wednesday.
After stranded for almost four hours, the couple was saved by the National Disaster Response Force Personnel Team (NDRF).
The couple had walked to the island on the Auranga River near Ghadoi Village to give a prayer in a temple on Wednesday afternoon.
NILESH (21) and his friend Snehal (18) went to the island in the afternoon and offered a prayer in a temple there.
Then they sat and chatted when the surface of the water suddenly began to rise.
Before they can walk back to the banks of the river, the surface of the water rises is dangerous.
When the couple stranded on the island, a large crowd gathered there with villagers and firefighters trying to save them.
But because heavy currents in the river they cannot save the couple.
In the end, the NDRF team was called who saved the partner using a boat after a two-hour operation.
“It seems like they don’t have time to go back because of the sudden water level appearance .
At around 3.50 PM The NDRF team was called for rescue operations.
About 22 Jawan arrived at the place and checked the situation and found that it was impossible to enter directly by boat.
Therefore, the first expert diver rises to the island holding the rope and tied it one end of the tree there.
Then, a ship was taken to the island using a rope.
The couple was saved by boat.
The couple has two cellphones and they make panic calls to friends and family to rescue.
“We advise them to save battery and we use their cellphones to give instructions to them and communicate with our team who go to the island,” said an NDRF official.
