Gujarat: Three countries target people’s smugglers

Ahmedabad: After the news appeared on Saturday that a family of four of Gujarat had frozen to death on the Canada-US border, Gujarat police officers said on Sunday that three countries would continue in the investigation.
Gujarat police officers said that Canada and US security agents, and Indian police will focus on a racket that is greater than illegal immigration.
The officers said that the Cid State (crime) was assigned to explore the human trade network that targeted Gandhinagar and the parts of Central and North Gujarat.
The victims were Jagdish Patel, 35; His wife, Vaishali, 33; And their children Vihanga, 12, and Dharmik, 3.
They are residents of Nava Dingucha Village in Kalol Taluka from Gandhinagar.
They reported separated from a group of larger Indians which made him cross the border to the US in -35 degrees of temperature Celsius.
Their bodies were found only 30 feet from the US border on the Canadian side.
The family had gone to Canada about 10 days ago.
“Previously, human traders were used to provide entry into illegal immigrants from the South US border with Mexico or from Havana in Cuba,” a police officer said.
“But the US authorities have tightened control on the southern border.
So the preferred route to do traders, today is through Canada.” The officer said a travel agent from North Gujarat and others from Mumbai was under the scanner.
He said they helped the Patel family travel to Canada.
“We were very suspicious that these two agents had a constant contact with a Florida named Steve Shand,” the officer said.
“We believe this Florida men play a role in planning illegal crossings to the US for families and seven others.” The officer said that US and Canadian security agents had begun investigated and they would coordinate with Indian police to solve human trafficking racquets.
The source said that the four hoped to be picked up by someone and they had walked in frozen conditions for around 11 hours.
One group member had a backpack with the children’s items, he took him for the family, which was finally separated during a snowstorm.
A Gujarat police team has spoken with people in Kalol Village to determine the existence of a travel agent.
