Gandhinagar: The Gujarat Education Department is considering the tie with the British-based Cambridge board.
The department also wants to change the State Council curriculum to provide an international touch to school in Gujarat.
The state government also looks for tie-ups with other international councils.
The main source of realizing the development said, “The state considers a special international council or a special curriculum for the secondary and higher education council that can match the international curriculum.” This step to adopt an international curriculum may mean not holding on to the NCERT model (National Council of Education Research and Education Training).
But sources say that all countries have been permitted based on new national education policies (NEP) to form their own curriculum.
“The aim is to bend the school curriculum with 21st century international education,” said the source.
“Through bilingual media, this curriculum will build English and 21st century skills in all students.” The source said the international benchmark assessment system would be followed.
The aim is to prepare students thoroughly for the program for the assessment of international students (Pisa) in 2024.
Pisa measures reading, mathematics, and science competence of students aged 15 years.
Further sources say that consultation has begun with several boards, including Cambridge boards and the Board for the Indian School Certificate (CISCE) exam.

“Recently, Cambridge’s representatives met with high-ranking state government officials,” said the source.
“Long-term bond modalities are discussed.
Also discussed is a curriculum upgrade in line with Cambridge teacher’s standards and training.” The government considers the adoption of the international curriculum ‘the state government is also in talks with CISCE to build an international curriculum in partnership with a globally recognized education council.
In the past too, the state government claimed to have relations with the International Council, but such projects gradually surrender.
The Secretary of Education Vinod Rao said: “To help our students qualify for international examinations, the government is considering the adoption of international curriculum for our proposed superior school.” He added: “It will help the state in preparing a large number of our students for international studies.”
