Rajkot: Two close contacts from the Omicron variant of patients positive Jamnagar are tested positive for covid on Sunday.
They were also suspected of being infected with the same variant and treated in the Hospital isolation ward GG.
A 72-year-old man, someone from India who returned from Zimbabwe on November 28, has been positively tested for the Omicron variant on Saturday.
Other family members were tested negative last week but a retest was carried out from nine people from nearby contacts where his wife (45) who also came with him from Zimbabwe tested positively.
His brother-in-law (35) a resident of Jamnagar who went to receive a partner at Ahmedabad Airport was also tested positively.
“They are close contact from the patient’s positive omicron variant and we suspect that they are also infected with the same variant.
We have sent their samples to the genome sequencing,” said Commissioner of Jamnagar Vijay Kharadi.
These two people do not show symptoms.
Other close contact from patients is observing and stored in isolation and the area is expressed as a micro detention zone.
