Letter: As if a recession caused by a pandemic is not enough, the owner of the weaving unit has been hit with large scams of money.
For the first time the Federation Association of the Weavers of Gujarat Wevers (Fogwa) has launched a campaign against organized fraud racquet.
Fogwa accused this gang cheats weavers around Rs 150 Crore every year over the past few years.
“In the past six months of fraudsters have thinned the weavers around Rs 100 Crore in the city.
We have the right detail fraud involving Hospital 10 Crore.
Fogwa is collecting additional details and soon we will declare the names of more companies and individuals deceive weavers, “Said Ashok Jirawala, President, Fogwa.
On Friday, Fogwa submitted a list of 57 textile companies and five brokers allegedly involved in cheating the weaving unit to the police.
Fogwa demanded that the cell violation of the economy of the police take action against these fraudsters.
Fogwa recently held a meeting on this issue which was attended by leaders of various industrial societies.
In the meeting it was decided to expose these companies by stating their names.
“We were forced to state the names because there were no legal actions initiated by the perpetrators even after approaching the police,” alleged Jirawala.
“Those who were involved in the fraud initially won the weaving trust by making timely payments for some of the first purchases.
After the weavers agreed to accept payment provisions more than a month they bought a product worth Crores rupees from several suppliers and disappeared,” Jirawala said.
“This is a multi-crore racket and we have identified 20 brokers.
This is not a case of simple fraud but a planned racket,” he added.
