Gumla bishop dies of post-Cov complications

Gumla: Bishop Paul A Lakra of Gumla Catholic Diocese Expired of post-Covid complications in Orchid hospital at Ranchi in 1.30am on Tuesday.

Later in the afternoon, his mortal remains were taken to Gumla Cathedral.
The requiem mass will likely be detected in St Patrick’s Cathedral on Wednesday along with the service will be presided over by the archbishop of Ranchi, Fr Felix Toppo, also attended by bishops from Jharkhand and nearby diocese.
Produced in 1955, Paul A Lakra (65) was recognized as a priest in 1988 and had been created bishop about April 5, 2006 by cardinal Telesphore Toppo in age 50.
“He served the diocese for 15 year,” recalled Fr Cyprian Kullu, vicar general of Bishop home in Gumla.
Kullu included,”After becoming infected with Covid, he had been admitted to Continuous Lievens Hospital at Mandar (Ranchi) on April 27.
Then, he had been known to alcoholism and wear ventilator on May 17.
His health improved and that he has been changed to a private area on June 1.
Doctors were intending to release him suddenly his health deteriorated resulting in his demsie.
Doctors instantly transformed him into ICU and put him ventilator but he eventually cried at 1.30am” Observing the government rules, the amount of participants at the requiem mass will likely be limited.
“Apart from the archbishop and other bishops, all of the parish priests, rectors, provincials and superiors of religious communities of diocese of Gumla and bishop’s relatives and relatives will attend to the bulk,” Kullu stated.
