Gunman was arrested in Japan after taking a doctor’s hostage, shooting a nurse: report

Tokyo: A Japanese man has been arrested for an attempted murder of a doctor, he took overnight, Friday’s report said.
The suspect also shot a nurse, who was seriously injured, when he limited doctors, who were afraid of death after the attack, according to the Public Broadcasters NHK.
NHK said the 44-year-old doctor was in cardiorespiration – expressions often used in Japan before death was confirmed – when he was taken to the hospital.
The doctor was in a visit to the suspect’s house with a nurse and caregiver to honor family members who died, NHK and other Japanese media words.
The police refused to confirm the arrest when contacted by AFP, just said the suspect was a man between 50 and 70 years old.
The man reportedly took a doctor’s hostage with a gun at Fujimino, a city near Tokyo, on Thursday night.
Caregiver, in his 30s, rushed to the police station after spraying Pepper during the incident.
Nurses, in their 40s, were conscious and were hospitalized, said the report.
The police have spoken with gunmen on the telephone all night to try and convince him to release the hostage, the report said.
Weapons crimes are rare in Japan, where the ownership of firearms is tightly controlled.
