Gurbachan Randhawa Remembers race of Milkha Singh’s Lifestyle in Rome

NEW DELHI: It was the race of his own life but in the conclusion of itMilkha Singh was only”distraught”.
Even the 91-year-old’Flying Sikh’, that passed away from Chandigarh on Friday after fighting COVID-related complications, had been expected to soar the greatest in the 1960 Rome Olympics however missed the podium by 0.1 minutes, a unforgettable heartache he carried for the remainder of his life.
Hurdler Gurbachan Singh Randhawa, Milkha’s 1960 and 1964 Olympic Games teammate and among those few surviving athletes to have observed the unforgettable 400m race in person, vividly recalls how it had built up in the Italian funds.

Milkha Singh was puzzled,” Randhawa said.
