Gurgaon: City air quality index (AQI) recorded a little dip but remained in the ‘severe’ category for the second day in a row on Saturday.
While it was established at 441 on that day, it was 448 days earlier.
According to officials from the Indian Meteorology Department (IMD), reducing water content in the afternoon and marginal increase in wind speeds have enabled a slight deployment of pollutants, but AQI is likely to stay in ‘severe’ for ‘very poor’ categories for the next few days due to weather conditions which is not profitable.
All monitoring stations in the city report ‘heavy air’ on Saturday.
Aqi’s reading was 435 in Gwaldahari, 403 in Sector 51, 414 in Teri Gram and 409 in Sadan Vikas.
“The wind has taken speed during the day at a speed of 6-8 kmpj, which has enabled the spread of pollutants to a certain extent and increased visibility.
However, the level of air quality is likely to remain ‘severe’ or ‘very poor’ because of a decrease in temperature, increased moisture and A slower wind that will prevent dispersal, “said IMD.
The minimum temperature fell from 13.4 degrees Celsius on Friday to 11.3 degrees on Saturday, while the daytime temperature was at 25.5 degrees, three notches under the normal season.
Officials from the State Pollution Control Board Haryana (HSPCB) said they made “all efforts” to improve air quality.
“We apply precautions from October 1 and now, we have optimized our efforts and continues to involve any stakeholders to reduce air pollution.
We urge residents not to carry out activities that contribute to pollution such as open waste burning, and encourage them to choose carpooling, “An official said.
Activists, meanwhile, referred to the lack of enforcement by government institutions to rise AQI.
“Construction and burning activities occur in industries that are not going on and pollution and the DG set is being carried out without an examination.
Until now, the government has no desire to overcome this emergency situation,” said Abhishek Srivastava, an environmental engineer and citizen members for clean air, Citizen groups.
Doctors have advised people to avoid outdoor activities.
“People who have a history of respiratory diseases need to remain vigilant.
We must also have a balanced diet rich in protein and avoid outdoor activities during political periods,” said Dr.
Arunesh Kumar, senior consultant and head of the Pulmonology department at the Paras Hospital.
Meanwhile, Delhi continued to be a gas room for the second day in a row.
The quality of the air remains under the ‘severe’ category despite a slight improvement against Saturday afternoon due to the weather conditions supporting and decreasing agricultural fires in city pollution.
The pollution monitoring agency expects very little and temporary help on Sunday to the lower end of ‘severe’ or the top end of ‘very poor’.
According to the Department of Weather, a slight increase in severe categories on Saturday is the result of increasing wind speed.
However, the wind is expected to slow down from Sunday night again, thus increasing the level of pollution.
