GURUGRAM: Two men were arrested from Sohna area on Monday and 11 illegal pistols, 12 magazines and multiple rounds of live cartridges have been recovered from them.
Police said the duo would buy illegal firearms from Uttar Pradesh for Rs 15,000-Rs 16,000 each and supply those to gangsters in Delhi, Haryana and Punjab for Rs 50,000-Rs 60,000 each.
ACP (crime) Preet Pal Sangwan said, on Sunday, inspector Narender Chouhan, the in-charge of crime unit, Sector 17, got information about the two firearm smugglers and arrested them from Maharaja Agrasen Bhavan in Sohna.The accused have been identified as Kuldeep alias CM (27) and Mukesh (24).
Both are from Mathura in UP, police said.
They have been booked under the Arms Act.
During questioning, the men told the police that they were supplying arms in Gurugram for the first time.
Police are now trying to find out who was supposed to receive the delivery in the city.
“They were on their way to Rajiv Chowk on a two-wheeler to deliver the firearms when we caught them near Sohna,” the ACP said, adding that it is one of the biggest illegal weapon hauls in recent years.
The duo had earlier supplied illegal weapons in Palwal, UP, Delhi, Punjab and other places.
Kuldeep is differently abled and has a mobile repairing shop in Mathura and Mukesh works with a private firm in Faridabad, police said.
They were produced in a court and remanded in police custody for four days.
