Gurugram: 2 weeks after the collapse of the flying wall, focus back on the gutter line

Gurugram: GMDA officials and the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) said they were working on a long-term solution to repair the underground waste pipeline that exploded on August 23, causing the walls of an across one direction in IFFCO Chowk to collapse.
The Flyover, which has been closed since then, opened for traffic earlier this week.
“The gutter line has settled.
We have started repairs and will be arranged right for the next two-three days.
We also talked to NHAI to find a permanent solution for this problem,” said Pardeep Kumar, Chief Engineer at GMDA.
While Nhai officials are exploring the options to shift the gutter line elsewhere, GMDA said the only practical solution is to use the Cured in Place Pipe (CIPP) technology, which involves repairing the pipe itself.
As part of the CIPP process, the corrosion resistant pipe is inserted into the pipe itself, from one Manhole hole to another.
This not only protects the original pipes from setbacks but also increases their lifetime.
On August 23, underground waste pipes that flow under the flyover had exploded after failing to handle water suddenly from the rain.
The land covering the pipe becomes loose, causing a wall of a collapse to collapse.
“The Stormwater Sewer Line, which side by side by explosion of firover every time there is heavy rain.
That’s what happened this time too.
There is rain and the gutter line explodes, causing water to accumulate and the earth above to the cave.
This is a GMDA sewer.
So, we are currently Work on solutions with them.
We discuss with them and will find a possible way to handle this, “Nhai official said.
GMDA officials, however, said they wanted to use CIPP technology.
“Each pipe has life.
The smoke and gas produced by waste tends to affect the crown or the top of the pipe, which is often empty.
The gases attack it from within, which leads to setbacks.
CIPP is the only solution for this.
This protects the pipe And increase his lifetime to 60 to 70 years, “Kumar said.
After the flyover collapsed on August 23, the police had aroused their entire structure, which remained closed until last Friday.
The Flyover was used by travelers who came out of Delhi and were built in 2019 as part of a plan to reduce the intersection.
Underpass and two-round kites are also built as part of the project.
