Gurugram: 40% of Dengue Cases in Wazirabad

Gurugram: Wazirabad, with a series of condominiums, has contributed more than 40% of Gurugram’s bloody fever.
Of the 212 cases reported in the district so far, Wazirabad has registered 86 this season.
But this is not the first time for Wazirabad.
In the past seven years, the area always has the number of cases of the most bloody fever.
In 2015, 145 cases were reported in Wazirabad.
There were 26 cases in 2016.13 in 2017, 36 in 2018, 11 in 2019, 26 in 2020 and 86 so far this year.
The Ministry of Health this time has identified 18 bloody hotspots in this district.
Apart from Wazirabad, some others are Gurugram Village, Garhi, Daultabad, Pataudi, Bhondsi, Badshapur, Sohna, and Tigra.
Officials said a large number of housing communities were close to each other and a high population density made Wazirabad vulnerable to diseases transmitted by vectors such as dengue and malaria fever.
The Ministry of Health has begun to focus testing in the area.
“Most new patients are in the age group 16 to 45 years.
They are from Highrises,” said Virender Yadav, the head of the medical officer.
“We have monitored fields that have reported cases and have created a database.
Testing focused on those who show symptoms being carried out in all hotspots.
We have added 12 beds to the hospital emergency ward in sector 10.
We also have 30 places Exclusive sleep for dengue fever patents, “he added.
But it’s not just Wazirabad a concern.
Another area that has a high level of dengue fever this season includes Gurugram Village (10.2%), Badshapur (6.5%), Kasan (5.9%) and Chandralok (3.8%).
Drive fogging and anti-larvae are being carried out in these areas and Municipal Corporation has also established control room for people to call and place requests.
Officials say people can call on 1800-1801-817 every day between 9am and 17:00 to ask for fogging in their area.
The night’s opd has also begun in government health facilities to detect cases at a faster level.
This OPD works from 15:00 to 19:00 every day.
Officials showed that the figures of dengue fever were very worrying this year because of the extended monsoon and unrelenting rainfall, which caused waterlogging in several bags for days.
Mosquito which causes dengue fever breed in fresh water and it takes a week for hatching larvae.
Gurugram City had the highest number of dengue cases in 2015, when a total of 451 patients fell with this disease.
That figure was established in 86 in 2016, 66 in 2017and 93 in 2018.
In 2019, 22 cases of dengue fever were reported in the city and rose to 511 in 2021.
