Gurugram Boy who has bird flu dies because of leukemia: aiims

Gurugram: Sushil Kumar, a 11-year-old boy from Gurugram who has contracted H5N1 Avian Influenza and died at AIIMS Delhi on July 11, has given up on acute mieloid leukemia and related complications, the hospital said on Thursday.

“Sushil died in AIIMS, Delhi because of myeloid leukemia acute and related complications,” Dr.
Rachna Seth, Professor in the Pediatric Department, AIIMS, said in a letter released on Thursday.
His parents also received his death certificate released by the hospital that day.
Talking about the steps taken to load a possible outbreak, the head of the Gurugram medical officer Dr.
Virender Yadav said, “We have placed an area that falls within a 10-km radius under supervision for 10 days.
Family members have been recommended to remain under quarantine For five days.
Our team held a meeting with the family and asked them for disease and travel details, contacts, and food history to find out the source of infection.
“The whole population of 15,500 in Saraswati Vihar Chakkarpur, where the family currently lives, has been played by the response team fast (rrts).
On Thursday, the health team also visited the nearest 16 villages and filtered 46,177 people.
No allegations of bird flu cases have been reported until now.
Meanwhile, seven RRTs from the Livestock Department will collect samples randomly from poultry farms within 10 km on Friday.
28 additional teams have been formed to conduct inspections in 18 poultry farms throughout the city.
Deputy Director of the Department, Dr.
Punak Gahlakawa, said poultry had been found to be healthy in Gurugram like now.
“We also visited the site on Thursday and had conducted intensive screening in the area.” Asked whether there were samples taken, he said, “Until now, no.
But I have directed the RRT to collect samples randomly from various farms on Friday.” The health department said Sushil lived with his grandmother in Chakkarpur.
His partner worked at a meat shop, right next to the poultry shop.
The health department suspects that boy may have captured infection from the store.
