Gurugram: Contactless token system at government session sites soon

GURUGRAM: The health department will soon introduce contactless tokens at government session sites conducting Covid-19 vaccinations to prevent overcrowding and reduce exposure.
This will be the first-of-its-kind initiative at session sites in the country, according to the Gurugram health department.
With social distancing being vital for breaking the chain of transmission of the virus, waiting in long queues for vaccination is defeating the purpose of lockdown measures and is increasing chances of spread of infection, officials said.
A small biosensor machine will be installed at government session sites.
Tokens will be generated by the machine when recipients place their hands near the sensor.
It will automatically stop generating tokens once it reaches the target set at the site.
“Although our teams, police and civil defence members are trying to manage the crowds daily, we need to put more enforcement measures in place,” said Dr Virender Yadav, chief medical officer, Gurugram.
He also said the plan is to install such machines at five primary health centres (PHCs) witnessing overcrowding.
The locations are yet to be decided.
Asked when they are planning to install the first automatic token machine, he said: “At present, we have received a proposal from a firm.
We are in the planning stage.”
