Gurugram: A woman allegedly beaten by a private bank executive after she objected to her smoking in a shared car in Gurugram, police said on Wednesday.
The defendant Vasu Singh, who lives in Ballabhgarh in Faridabad, was arrested but was released with a guarantee, the police said, added that the victim – Susan Lata – was a resident of Wazirabad Delhi and recovered in the hospital.
According to complaints submitted by Lata, who worked at a private hospital in Gurugram, the incident took place on Monday night when he returned home with a car together.
“When we reached near Greenwood City, Sector 46, the couple ride the car and the man smoked and continued to do it even after sitting inside.
I asked him to stop but he was angry and refused,” Lata’s suspicion in his complaint.
Lata then pulled the cigarette out of the defendant’s mouth and threw it out.
Singh who was angry who punched his face twice and left him with a bloody nose.
He also harassed Lata, he said in complaints.
“The driver stopped the car and I told the police and my family,” said the complainant.
A police team reached the place and arrested Singh who had been ordered under Section 323 (causing wounds), 325 (voluntarily caused a sad pain), and 509 (insulting the modesty of a woman) from the Sector 50 police station in the 50 sector.
“When the defendant agreed to take part in the investigation, he was released on the guarantee,” Sub Inspector Amit Kumar, who is also an investigation officer of this case, said.
