Gurugram: A 30-year-old man, who returned from England a few weeks ago, has been found to have been infected with the Omicron variant.
The man, who landed in the city on December 10, is currently in the center of isolation at Sector 67.
Officials said the test carried out in men after he landed had become negative.
Eight days later, when he was tested for the second time, he was found to have Covid.
The sample is sent for sequencing genomes, reports that arrive on Sundays.
The official said the man took both doses of the Pfizer vaccine.
According to Rajeev Arora, the Additional Principal (Health), he is a sixth covid patient in the state that will be infected by Omicron.
Three other patients came from yamunanagar, and each of the Faridabad and Panchkula.
Amid concerns over Omicron, the Ministry of Health proposed four new micro detention zones on Sundays, when the city saw 68 cases, the highest in the past six months.
After Lull for three months, the Covid case had begun to see uptick again.
In December 26, the city has added 447 new Covid cases, 269 of them are active.
From this patient, 267 recovered at home.
But this recent increase in cases can also be attributed to the fact that Gurugram has intensified testing lately.
Between December 19 and Sunday, the number of tests had increased from 3,666 to 5,083.
Officials said the four fields proposed for the micro detention zone had three or more cases each.
The proposed area was flat on the tower 1 of the Amber Court Essel tower in Sector 28, which has five active cases; Purple tulips in sector 69, where there are four active cases; Blok C Palam Vihar, with three patients, and a house in sector 45 with three cases.
Door-to-door checks will be carried out in homes in this area along with ordinary sanitization.
At present, the city has nine micron detention zones in three fields.
“We have observed a case increase due to general weakness in maintaining the Covid protocol.
It is seen that one member with the history of travel recently infects other people in the family after returning home.
We appeal to people to isolate themselves if they start observing Covid symptoms, “said Virender Yadav, CMO.
